The illuminated Johnessy lettering and warm brass lamps bring the streaming backdrop into the room.

I’d wanted to climb Cat Bells for about ten years, but I never found the motivation to go and do it. When I started dealing with my anxiety, depression and POTS, I finally went with my two boys—and we made it to the top. That’s where I picked up this stone. I keep it so I can always remember reaching the top with them.
I got these thimbles from my grandmother when I went to Scotland to visit her. She let us take some. The reason I wanted them is that, when I was a kid, no one in that house was allowed to touch any of her ornaments. Now that I’ve got them, I can touch them whenever I want.
This picture is from a day out when I took the family to Cat Bells. We drove around and had a look—it was a lovely day. I was scoping the place out as well. I wanted to see what it was like, so we just went to have a look around. On the way back, though, it got really dark and I only had one headlight. That was a bit sketchy.
The Harry Potter things are presents from my dad. He knows I love Harry Potter, so he bought them for me. The Harry Potter piece on the right is one he hand-painted himself. I think he cast it in plaster, but I can’t remember exactly how he made it. I really like that one.
It’s actually a middle finger shaped like a Buddha. I can’t remember who sent me this, but whoever it was, you’re a troublemaker.
These books are about me learning about anxiety, depression, and how to try to take back control of my life. I went through four years of absolute hell and some of the darkest places I can imagine. Twice, I seriously considered ending my life. I decided I needed to start reading about anxiety. My thinking at the time was: if I could learn what caused anxiety, I could learn what fixes it. I wanted to understand what was happening to me. What I took from that reading was to face my fears and accept the anxiety. For me, facing it helped it lose some of its hold. That, mixed with a lot of walking, meditating, grounding and journaling, really, really helped me. If you’re going through mental health struggles, please contact someone.
I got this Zippo from someone called Aaron. He was a train police guy who sent it to me. It’s engraved with “congrats on 10K followers boyo!”
