Book of Spies Mission X

Spearhead Studios, based in Marbella, sends a hacker named Lara Jones after a network of digital criminals in Book of Spies Mission X, an espionage-themed release built on a 5x4 grid that pays across 1,024 ways as a baseline. Guns, bullets, computer drives and a blurred city skyline surround the reels, backed by a soundtrack that leans into modern spy-thriller territory.

The game licenses two mechanics from Nolimit City: xNudge Wild Multipliers and xWays Mystery Symbols. A Mystery Symbol can land and reveal two to four matching symbols at once, stretching the reel it appears on up to seven symbols tall and pushing the number of ways to win as high as 5,488 in the base game. The xNudge Wild carries Lara Jones's image, appears only on reels two and four, and always nudges to cover its full reel — each nudge adds one to its multiplier, up to a cap of four, or up to seven when it lines up with a Mystery Symbol on the same reel. Two multiplier wilds contributing to the same win have their values multiplied together rather than added.

Free spins need three tumbling scatter symbols to land on reels one, three and five in the same spin. The number of spins awarded matches however many nudges it took to bring those scatters down to the bottom of their reels, giving a range of three to twenty-one spins. Before the round begins, one of the game's four character symbols is chosen at random to act as a special expanding symbol; whenever three or more reels carry that symbol after a spin, it expands to fill every position on those reels and pays regardless of adjacency. Landing another set of scatters during the round retriggers it, keeping the same special symbol in play. A Buy Bonus option is also available, priced at 70 times the stake for ten guaranteed free spins.

Symbols pay for combinations of three or more landing on adjacent reels, with royal card values forming the low end of the paytable and four character symbols sitting above them. Betting runs from 20 cents up to 100 units per spin. Spearhead Studios has published a 96.09% return to player, high volatility, a 24.90% hit frequency and a maximum win of 27,000x the stake — numbers that, combined with the ways structure climbing to 16,807 during free spins, put this among the higher-ceiling entries in the format.
