Northernlights built Electric Wilds in partnership with Relax Gaming, running the game on a compact 3x3 grid where only three-of-a-kind combinations pay across 5 lines — power lines stretch across the background art, in keeping with the game's electrical theme. J-through-Ace symbols in a bold pop-art style fill the low end of the paytable, while a trio of colour-coded energy capsules sits as high pays alongside a wide-eyed cyborg head, the cyborg alone paying up to 20x the stake for a three-symbol line.

The main mechanic runs through a separate display called the Matrix, a grid of lights sitting alongside the reels. Small lightning bolt icons occasionally appear attached to regular symbols, and each one lights up a corresponding position on the Matrix. Whenever three of those lights form a line — horizontally, vertically or diagonally — one symbol type across the main grid turns wild, and multiple completed lines convert multiple symbol types at once. Lit positions typically clear before the next spin, though some carry over, and an occasional super lightning symbol lights several Matrix positions at once instead of just one.

Filling the entire grid with a single symbol, whether through natural landings or wild conversions from the Matrix, triggers the Repeater bonus. This plays out across five tubes, four intact and one already broken, with a burst of electricity travelling along them before settling on one at random. Landing on an intact tube repeats the triggering win and breaks that tube for the rest of the round; landing on the already-broken one ends the bonus immediately. Surviving all four intact tubes pays out four times the triggering win in total. The bonus itself is a rare sight, with a theoretical hit rate of around 1 in 400.
