Hot Rise Games, a newcomer distributed through Yggdrasil's YGS Masters programme, sets Legion Hot 1 amid the Roman Empire, swapping between two backdrops as the reels turn: a hazy, cypress-dotted countryside reminiscent of the Italian hills, and the dense stone streets of the capital itself. Both scenes carry a grainy, watercolour-style finish, and the soundtrack shifts from a soft orchestral theme into a choral swell once the shields start collecting.

Legion Hot 1 begins on a standard 5x3 grid worth 243 ways to win, formed whenever three or more matching symbols connect from the leftmost reel outward. The grid is not fixed, though - reels 2, 3 and 4 can each grow taller as the round progresses, eventually reshaping the layout into a 3-5-5-5-3 formation and lifting the ways total to 1,125. Stakes run from 0.30 up to 90 per spin.

Coins, eagles, lions and goats form the top end of the paytable, with plumed helmets and axes just underneath; five connected coins or eagles pay between 1.33x and 16.66x the stake. Jack through Ace fill out the four lower symbols. An angry legionnaire wild can land on reels 2 through 4, standing in for every symbol except the bonus icon.

The bonus symbol is a shield, and it only turns up on reels 2, 3 and 4. Shields stack per reel in a set order: the opening one stretches that reel down by an extra row, the next stretches it upward by a further row, a third fixes double multipliers onto both new rows, and a fourth completes the set by handing that reel ten free spins.

Shields behave differently once free spins are running - rather than collecting toward another upgrade, they act as x2 wild multipliers wherever they land. Whichever reel triggered the round gains extra x2 wilds of its own, and the very last spin of the round - the "Hot 1" the title refers to - randomly picks one of reels 2, 3 or 4 and fixes a multiplier to both its top and bottom positions. The grid drops back to its starting 5x3 shape once the round ends.

Legion Hot 1 is rated low volatility, with hit frequency landing around once every 2.02 spins. The published RTP is 96.37%, though the full figure only applies once a complete collection cycle finishes - starting a fresh cycle, the return trends lower until reel positions unlock and the cycle wraps up. Players can also buy straight into the free spins for 50 times the stake where permitted. Maximum win is set at 2,525x the stake.
