Scales of Dead

Sand, pyramids and ankh imagery frame the reels in Scales of Dead, a Play'n GO release set in ancient Egypt with a jackal, a hooded cobra, a bird deity and a golden ankh forming the higher-paying symbol set. Ten through ace card royals fill out the lower end of the paytable, worth 8 to 15 times the stake for five matching, while the four premium symbols pay between 75 and 500 times the stake for the same.

The game runs on a 5x3 grid with 10 fixed paylines and accepts stakes from 0.10 to 100 per spin. A golden Tomb symbol does double duty as both wild and scatter: it appears across every reel, substitutes for any regular symbol that hasn't expanded, and landing three or more anywhere on the grid triggers 8 free spins.

Once the round begins, one of the regular pay symbols is randomly selected to become an Expanding symbol for the duration of the free spins. When enough copies of it land, it expands to cover every position on its reel, and expanded positions pay across all paylines regardless of where they sit rather than needing to connect from the left. Landing two or more Tomb scatters during the free spins triggers a Sandstorm variant worth 3 additional spins, and more than one Sandstorm round can be stacked within the same session of free spins. Sandstorm spins use the same Expanding symbol mechanic, but each expansion also carries a randomly assigned x2, x3 or x4 multiplier, and further Tomb scatters landing during Sandstorm spins add two more spins each time, up to a ceiling of 30 spins per Sandstorm trigger.

Outside the free spins, a Gamble feature lets players risk a win on the turn of a face-down card: correctly calling its colour doubles the prize, while correctly calling its suit quadruples it, and the gamble can be repeated up to five times in a row.

Scales of Dead defaults to a 96.21% RTP, with four lower alternate settings running down to 84.21%, and carries a volatility rating of 9 out of 10. The maximum win is 10,000 times the stake, driven mainly by the multiplier-boosted Expanding symbols during a heavily retriggered Sandstorm sequence.
