Stakelogic built The Secret of Machu Picchu with Touchstone Games, drawing on the Incan mountain citadel in southern Peru. Ancient stonework is visible behind the reels, with misty peaks around it. The palette is green in the base game and shifts to golden tones in the free spins, and the view widens as extra rows are added to the grid.

The grid opens at six columns and four rows, giving 4,096 ways to win, and it can reach seven rows for a maximum of 117,649 ways. Wins pay from the leftmost reel across at least three adjacent reels. After every win, the winning symbols are cleared, the gaps are refilled, and one more row is added, so the ways count rises with each step in a chain. The sequence stops when a drop produces no further win.

The paytable has eight stone-block designs at the bottom, in two sets of four patterns, with an adventurer's kit above them: a compass, a lamp, a map and the explorer himself. Six of a kind on the stone blocks pays 0.3x to 0.75x the bet, and the four upper symbols pay 1.5x to 5x.

The Lucky Llama is the wild and replaces the standard pay symbols. When a llama lands without joining a win, it does something different: the eight cheapest symbols are removed from the reels and a cascade follows, which leaves a board weighted toward the better ones. Multiplier symbols between x2 and x50 can drop at any time, and every multiplier showing gets added together and applied to the total win.

Three or more scatters open the free spins, and extra scatters landed during the round award more spins. Two special symbols appear there. Sun God symbols arrive carrying cash values, and each one pays out once for every Sun Gate symbol currently in view, so the two need to land together for the feature to pay.

An optional Super Stake ante doubles the bet and gives three times as many chances at the free spins feature. The RTP is 96% whether the ante is switched on or off. Volatility is medium to high, and bets can be placed from 0.20 to 200. No maximum win figure is published for this game.
