Valley of the Gods 2

Yggdrasil Gaming followed its 2017 hit with Valley of the Gods 2 on 23 September 2020, and the sequel changes the shape of the game. The five-reel rectangle is replaced by six reels whose rows begin at 1-2-3-4-5-2, with scarab-patterned blocker tiles filling the space around them so the playfield looks like a pyramid tipped on its side. Three modifier meters sit to the left, and behind the grid, pyramids and palms shimmer in the heat. A shifting soundtrack and heavy bass effects accompany it.

There are no paylines. Three or more matching symbols must link from the first reel onward, and the default grid gives 240 ways to win. When every blocker is gone, that rises to 20,160. Ten regular symbols make up the paytable: the royals from nine to ace, plus four gods in Anubis, Horus, Sobek and Bastet. Bastet pays best, with 20 times the stake for six of a kind. No standard wild exists, though a wild reel can appear through the features.

All the features chain off a win. Scarabs leave the winning symbols and destroy as many blocker tiles as there were symbols in the combination, and a respin follows. A win on that respin repeats the process. Once all of the blockers have been cleared, an extra life is awarded and three collection modifiers go live. Red scarabs, 5 at a time, earn an extra life. Blue scarabs, again 5 at a time, add +1 to the win multiplier. Golden scarabs, 5 at a time, create a wild reel on a random reel, which stays until the next win or the end of the respins.

A respin with no win spends a life to continue. When the lives run out and nothing new lands, the respins stop and the grid goes back to its default state.

The RTP is 96.3% with medium to high volatility. A hit frequency of 20% means roughly one spin in five wins. Bets go from 0.25 to 125 and the maximum win is 5,481x.
