ELK Studios sets Buggin in a sunlit back garden rather than anywhere threatening: lily pads drift across a pond, a tea table and chairs sit on tended lawn, and flower beds ring the play area. The bugs living there are drawn as rounded, semi-human characters instead of anything unsettling, keeping the presentation gentle and bright throughout.

The game runs on a 7x4 cluster-pays grid, so wins form whenever five or more matching symbols connect edge to edge, horizontally or vertically, anywhere on the board — there are no fixed paylines to track. Every win clears the connected symbols and drops fresh ones in from above, and a single spin can chain through several cascades before the board settles.

Four garden objects — a leaf, a berry, a bunch of grapes and a mushroom — form the low-paying symbols, while four bug characters occupy the top of the pay table. A cluster of exactly five matching symbols pays the smallest amount in that symbol's range, and connections of twelve or more reach the largest. Wild symbols can also land directly on the grid and substitute for the regular set.

Buggin layers several mechanics on top of the base cascades. Any paying symbol can land as a Big Symbol, covering a 2x2 or 3x3 block and paying as though every position in that block held the symbol individually. A progress meter above the reels fills as wins land; once it is full, a random Feature Wild is banked into a wild inventory rather than placed straight on the grid. When a spin's cascades stop producing new wins, any banked Feature Wilds are released onto the board and resolved — variants can expand into a Big Symbol, add their multiplier to other wilds, turn two to four regular symbols into wilds, strip the lowest-paying symbol from the grid, or upgrade every copy of one symbol to the next tier up.

Collecting Feature Wilds toward a hidden per-spin target triggers a Wild Redrop, which releases that many Feature Wilds back onto the board with any regular wilds already there locked in place; reaching a further target within the same Redrop adds more wilds to it, and the feature can retrigger, though not while the super free spins round is active. Landing three scatters awards seven free spins, and if one of those scatters is a super scatter, the round upgrades to seven super free spins instead; extra scatters landing during the round add three more spins and can likewise upgrade it. Regular wilds carry over sticky from spin to spin during the bonus round. Players can also buy directly into the game through the X-iter menu, choosing between cheaper spins with better odds of tripping the feature, spins that start with Feature Wilds already banked, or a straight purchase into the free spins or super free spins round.

Buggin carries a 94% RTP and lands in a medium volatility band rated 7 out of 10, with a maximum win of 10,000x the stake and a hit frequency of 35%. Stakes run from 0.20 up to 100 per spin.
