NetEnt arranges Cupcakes around two connected symbol types — pastel Gumdrops and stacked, 2x2 Cupcakes — spread across a 6-reel, 7-row grid that pays via a scatter system rather than fixed lines. Eight or more matching symbols anywhere on the board trigger a win, and each paying combination sets off an avalanche: the winning symbols clear, new ones drop in to fill the gaps, and the sequence keeps repeating until nothing new lands. Both Gumdrops and Cupcakes come in seven colour variants, and the two interact directly. When a Gumdrop lands in the same colour as a Cupcake, it settles onto that Cupcake's frosting rather than paying out on its own.
