Mummy Megaways

NetEnt sets Mummy Megaways inside a cobwebbed, pillar-lined tomb, rendering its Ancient Egyptian setting in a cartoon style rather than anything austere or photorealistic. A steady, plodding soundtrack underscores the reels, the kind of rhythm that suits workers hauling stone blocks under a relentless sun. It leans into an approachable look rather than grandeur, which sets it apart from grander takes on the same setting.

The game runs on a six-reel Megaways engine, with each reel dropping between two and seven symbols per spin and the number of ways to win recalculating on every drop, up to a maximum of 117,649. Winning combinations form on adjacent reels starting from the far left, and any symbols involved in a win disappear, letting new ones fall into the gaps left behind. This avalanche sequence continues for as long as fresh wins keep appearing.

Card ranks from 10 through Ace make up the low-paying symbols, worth between 0.5x and 1.5x the stake for six of a kind. Above them sit a set of Egyptian icons — birds, scarabs, ornamental eyes, and lotus blooms among them — paying 2x to 30x for a six-symbol combination. Wild symbols appear in several colours, each substituting for any regular paying symbol and matching the top payout of 30x when six land together.

Three coloured Feature Bars sit above the grid, and each fills as matching Playful Spirits land on the reels — up to six can appear on a single spin, riding on top of paying symbols. Thirty spirits complete a bar, more than one bar can fill on the same spin, and any spirits collected beyond thirty carry over into the Feature Spins that follow.

Completing a bar awards its matching Feature Spins round, and filling several bars at once can trigger combined rounds worth up to three features together. The blue bar hands out three spins where a Random Wild seeds up to six copies of itself across random positions on every spin. The purple bar's three spins each carry an Expanding Wild that grows to cover its entire reel. The yellow bar's three spins bring a Spreading Wild that turns the symbols around it into further copies of itself.

Mummy Megaways pays out at up to 96% RTP and is rated medium to high volatility, with stakes running from 0.10 to 20 per spin and a maximum win of 5,000x. The avalanche mechanic keeps the reels active even between Feature Spins rounds, and the different wild types give each bonus outcome a distinct shape depending on which bar, or combination of bars, gets filled.
