Pragmatic Play sets Pirate Gold in a misty harbour, ships docked either side of the reels and a sunset settling over distant mountains in the background, all rendered inside a wooden reel frame with the fixed jackpot values displayed just beneath it. The game runs on a 5-reel, 4-row grid with 40 fixed paylines and takes bets from 0.40 to 200 per spin.

Ten regular symbols make up the paytable, headed by a male and a female pirate, each worth 12.5 times the stake for five in a row. Three compass scatters landing anywhere award a separate Free Spins round, opening with 10 spins.
