Pragmatic Play's studio Reel Kingdom built Star Pirates Code around a pirate-adjacent night scene, with silhouetted ships crossing a dark, star-filled sea in the background art.

The game runs on a 5-reel, 3-row grid with 10 fixed paylines, and wins pay in both directions — left-to-right and right-to-left — whenever three or more matching symbols land on a payline.

Four gem icons make up the lower-value symbols, while treasure chests, gold coins and silver coins form the premium set, each returning between 3x and 15x stake on a five-symbol line — doubled in practice since those combinations also count when they land right to left.

Two wild types are in play. A skull-and-crossbones wild appears on reels two, three and four and substitutes for any paying symbol. A separate Wild Compass appears only on those middle three reels; landing one sets its needle spinning, converting a line of positions to wilds along whichever axis — across, up-down, or diagonal — the needle settles on, and the compass tile itself becomes an added wild. All wild positions then lock and a respin follows automatically. If another Wild Compass lands during that respin, it adds further wilds and triggers another respin; and where a new wild lands on a square that already holds one, the existing wild's multiplier climbs by +1x. The sequence continues until a respin produces no new Wild Compass symbol.

Default RTP is set at 96.74%, with alternate configurations available at 95.64% and 94.61%. Volatility is rated medium, hit frequency is around 1 in 7.34 spins, and the maximum win is capped at 2,500x the stake. Bets run from 0.10 up to 250 per spin, making the title accessible across a wide range of budgets.

Because the Wild Compass can chain respins and stack multipliers on repeated hits, the win potential builds gradually rather than arriving in one large hit — the base game plays fast, with the middle-reel wild mechanic providing the main route to bigger multipliers between the more frequent smaller wins.
