Play'n GO sends its Abyssways mechanic into an 80s/90s tech-horror setting with Static Nightmare Abyssways, trading the mythic Greek backdrop of an earlier Abyssways release for a suburban house rigged with flickering monitors. The pre-game animation shows two kids feeding a disk into an old computer and accidentally letting a tentacled creature loose, and the reels sit against a green-lit yard as a result. It's a retro haunted-house mood built from cassette decks and CRT glow rather than candles and cobwebs.

The grid starts at 6x5 and can grow toward a 6x6 maximum as the reel-expansion feature adds rows, which is why the ways to win stretch from 729 up to 46,656 rather than sitting at a fixed number. Wins pay for matching symbols landing on adjacent reels from the leftmost position, the standard shape for a ways-pays game, and the constantly shifting reel height means a spin can look completely different in scale from the one before it.
