Unusual Suspects Cartel Cash

Detective Max Spinwell crosses the border in Unusual Suspects Cartel Cash, a Northern Lights Gaming follow-up that trades the original's cops-and-robbers setting for a campaign against Mexican cartels. The look is bright and saturated, moving from city streets to a lavish villa, and the soundtrack is built around a live band, a first for the studio. Free spins are gone from this version. A linked respin round called Link&Win 4Tune takes their place.

The base game uses a single 5-reel matrix with 10 paylines, smaller than the grid in the bonus. Ten to ace are the low pays at 1x for five of a kind. Dice, guns, dynamite and loot form the premium tier at 2x to 10x. Wilds appear in the base game only, they substitute for paying symbols, and five on a line pay 10x.

Frames are the backbone. Coins and wilds that land leave an x1 Sticky Frame behind, and further symbols landing in a frame lift its multiplier to as high as x5. Two Oversized Gold Frames occupy reels 2 and 4. Silver Coins carry values up to 2.8x the stake, Gold Coins carry more than that, and a Coin Modifier can promote silver to gold.

The Detective can only appear in the reel 2 Oversized Frame. It places Coins into every Sticky Frame that lacks one, applies frame multipliers, collects the total and counts as a wild. The Big Boss lands only in the reel 4 Oversized Frame, fills all Sticky Frames with wilds, and also acts as a wild. In both cases the frames are removed afterwards. A Drive-By Bonus can fire at random in the base game and respins an Oversized Frame to give a Detective or Big Boss another chance to arrive.

Diamond overlay tokens gather in the Boost Bar, and 50 of them launch Link&Win 4Tune with reelsets 1 and 2 open. Landing the Detective and the Big Boss together in the base game also starts it. Up to four reelsets can become active, each with 3 respins that reset whenever a non-blank symbol lands. Only Coins, blanks, the Detective and Outlaw symbols appear. The Outlaws modify Coins: Multiply All and Multiply One apply x2 to x10, Adder raises one Coin by 0.2x to 10x and keeps adding on later spins, and Collector merges a reelset's Coins into one. A Detective plus an Outlaw on the same reelset unlocks the next. The jackpots are 20x Mini, 50x Minor, 500x Major and 5,000x Grand on reelsets 1 to 4, with multipliers of x1, x2, x3 and x5. Only one jackpot is paid.

Entry to the round can be bought for 100x the stake, or for 200x in an enhanced form with more Coins. Tokens are not used for bought entries. The RTP is 96.09% with 94.14% and 92.08% alternatives, volatility is medium, the hit frequency is 31.70%, stakes run from 0.20 to 20 and the top prize is 12,000x. It launched in November 2024.
