How it works
- Chance of a bonus = 1 − (1 − 1/N)spins, for a bonus that lands 1 in N spins.
- Spins for a chance = log(1 − chance) ÷ log(1 − 1/N), rounded up.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you calculate the chance of hitting a bonus?
- Work out the chance of missing on one spin (1 − 1/N for a bonus that lands 1 in N), raise it to the number of spins, and take that from 1. For 1 in 200 over 100 spins: 1 − (199/200)^100 ≈ 39%.
- If the bonus is 1 in 200, will I get it in 200 spins?
- Not necessarily. 200 spins gives about a 63% chance of at least one bonus, so more than a third of the time you will still be waiting.
- Is a bonus due after a long dry spell?
- No. Each spin is independent, so a long run without a bonus does not change the odds on the next spin.
- Where do I find a slot's bonus frequency?
- Many providers publish a hit rate or bonus frequency in the game's info screen or on their website. If none is published, the figure is not known and any estimate is a guess.
