Octoplay's Twice As Nice studio built Davey Bones around the old sailors' myth of Davy Jones' Locker, swapping the usual shipwreck imagery for a crew of skeletons riding out a storm. Lightning cuts across a heaving, spectral sea behind the reels, and the game leans on mood and sound rather than any written story to sell the setting.

A 5x5 grid drops 25 symbols on every spin, with 15 paylines paying left to right, and there's a Double Chance option that raises the stake by 40% in exchange for better odds of triggering the game's features. Nine regular symbols make up the paytable: card ranks 10 through A pay 1 times the bet for five in a row, while an anchor, a treasure chest, a pistol and a rum bottle sit above them as the premiums, worth between 5 and 20 times the stake for a full line.

Scatter symbols only show up on reels 2 through 4, and landing three of them opens the Free Spins round, which begins with a bank of 3 spins. That count resets back to 3 every time a Cannon or Monkey symbol hits, and reel multipliers keep growing for as long as the round lasts.

Two extra symbol pairs drive the multiplier side of the game. Cannon and Reinforced Cannon symbols add between 2 and 5 to a multiplier — the standard Cannon to the reel it lands on, the Reinforced version to every reel at once — while Monkey and Monkey Captain symbols instead multiply an existing reel total by 2 to 5 times, again with the Captain affecting the whole grid. The Pirate Wild spreads across an entire reel when it lands, replacing every regular symbol and carrying a multiplier that applies to any line it completes — a full reel of five wilds is worth 20 times the stake on its own. If expanding wouldn't create a win, the symbol stays put instead.

Any Cannon or Monkey symbol appearing during the base game opens Pirate Spins, which keep running until a spin passes with neither type on the reels, and any multiplier growth built up carries through the whole sequence.
