Turning Totems surprised me because I wasn’t really sure what to expect when I first loaded it up, but it didn’t take long before I got into it. The whole totem theme works really well and there’s always that feeling that the next few spins could suddenly kick things off.
The base game can be brutal at times and there were definitely some dry spells, but that actually made the decent hits feel even better when they came. I like slots that have proper potential without feeling like you’re just watching the exact same thing happen every spin.
Turning Totems kept me interested and had me chasing that next good setup. Definitely one I’d come back to, especially when I’m in the mood for something volatile with the chance of a big turnaround.
The bonus
The Turning Totems bonus was the part I was really waiting for and once I finally got into it I was genuinely excited to see what it could do. This is definitely the sort of bonus where you end up watching every symbol land because you’re constantly hoping the next spin is going to be the one that puts everything together.
There were a couple of moments where I thought it was going to completely die on me, then suddenly you get a better setup and you’re right back interested again.
What I really enjoyed was the anticipation. Turning Totems has one of those bonuses where you can see the potential building and you start thinking about what could happen if you just get the right symbols in the right places. It makes those near misses painful 😂 but at the same time it makes you want to keep watching because it feels like a monster hit could be just one spin away.
It’s definitely not a bonus I’d describe as safe or consistent. You can have spins that barely give you anything and I can imagine it being absolutely savage when it wants to be, but that’s part of why the better moments actually feel exciting.
I’d rather have a bonus with some proper potential than one that just slowly gives back tiny wins without ever looking like it could really take off.
Overall I had a lot of fun with the Turning Totems bonus. It had enough going on to keep me interested from the first spin to the last and there were several moments where I genuinely thought it was about to go crazy. I didn’t know whether I was about to get absolutely rinsed or see the screen explode with a huge hit, which is exactly the sort of tension I want from a volatile bonus.
I’d 100% give this one another go because now I’ve seen the potential, I want to see what happens when everything actually lines up perfectly.
