How it works
- Face value = spins × value per spin.
- Average winnings = face value × RTP.
- Wagering cost = winnings × wagering × house edge (100% − RTP).
- Real value = winnings − wagering cost, never below zero, and no more than any cashout cap.
Frequently asked questions
- How do you work out what free spins are worth?
- Multiply the number of spins by the value of each spin to get the face value, then by the RTP to get the average winnings. If the winnings carry wagering, take away the wagering cost: winnings × wagering × house edge. What is left, never below zero, is the average real value.
- Are wager-free spins better?
- Yes. With no wagering you keep the full average winnings, so 50 spins at 20p on a 96% slot are worth about £9.60. The same spins with 35x wagering are worth almost nothing on average.
- What does a max cashout cap do?
- It limits how much you can withdraw from the spins, however much they win. On a small offer the cap rarely matters to the average, but it removes the chance of a big win from the spins.
- Are free spins ever worth claiming?
- They can be, if the wagering is low or zero and the terms are fair. Read the terms first: the value per spin, the wagering, which games count and the expiry date all change what the offer is worth.
